March Linux makes it to Distrowatch Waiting List

A fellow member called Colnago just informed me at the Arch Linux forums that March Linux has made it to the waiting list at distrowatch!

In case you don't know, http://distrowatch.com is a site where they comprehensively list almost all the Linux distributions on this planet, new and old alike!

I had 'submitted' March Linux for inclusion in the list via an email some days back, and today it got included! However, this is NOT the main list yet, but a kind of waiting list!

March has to 'survive through' a minimum of 90 days waiting period before they might decide to include it in the main list. "This is to discourage submission of new projects that start with great enthusiasm only to vanish in a few short months."

So, let's make March more popular, so that it doesn't die a pre-matured death! :D

You can see the name of March Linux towards the end of the list :

March Linux: Now a Live CD!

Hello, everybody!
After a brief lull, March is back! smile

It has now a totally new look.....instead of a text-install CD it is now a Live only CD.
The iso is ready (470mb) and has been uploaded. But, I'm not too sure if the upload is ok and not corrupt. sad
That's
why the download link is not yet public. If anyone is willing to do a
test (will be much appreciated), please let me know, so that I can give
the link.
Thanx in advance!

New GUI frontend for pacman coming up

Dated : 22 May, 2007

From now on, March Linux will concentrate on being a LnF (Lean and Fast) distrolet of Arch.

Currently, Jacman serves as the GUI frontend to pacman (package manager) in March. Jacman, despite being an excellent program, is quite heavy due to its JRE dependency.
I'v created PacKommander, a very simple GUI wrapper for pacman using Kommander, which shall replace Jacman in near future.

Version 0.0.2 (ALPHA) Uploaded

Finally, an uploadable ISO has been created!! The version 0.0.1 didn't pass the tests even in my own machine, so was never released. Besides, 0.0.1 didn't include many important packages.
Version 0.0.2 is still an ALPHA release, though! It has run quite well in a Virtual Box environment and on a small partition of my hard drive. I couldn't test the LILO boot-loader on my main machine simply because the other OSs installed use GRUB, and I'm not really familiar with LILO! LILO worked well in the VBox environ.
However, test runs on other machines must be made. The problem is I don't possess a spare one! That's why I'm uploading it. Please download the ISO, install, test and comment! (The size of ISO file is 556.1 MB on hard disk). Be sure to notify me of problems/bugs AND also your suggestions about how to get over them (I'm a NO-GEEK, remember!!! :D)
TY!!
